ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta asking him to account for the many trips he (the president) has made abroad.
Mudavadi said that Kenyatta’s travels had not brought anything positive to the country apart from imposing a heavy burden on the taxpayer.
“At whose benefit were they ensuing agreements? The government has decided it is better to keep the lid on it. Kenyans have a right to know who is benefiting at their expense," he said in reference to the recent conferences the president has been convening or travelling to.
"Otherwise we may be creating a business oligarchy the Russian way, with disastrous consequences to our economy in the near future," he added.
Mudavadi joins a number of critics who have labelled President Uhuru Kenyatta a tourist president.
However, State House has moved to defend the president’s trips and said that they are good for the economy and development of the country.
