According to the two leaders, it was a big embarrassment that a leader who has worked so closely with Raila Odinga could undergo such humiliation.

"Why should ODM senators do this to someone who has been so loyal to the opposition, this is a bad sign," said Mudavadi.

He said that he would still back him despite the move by senators to send him packing.

Ms Nyaramba on her take said that the newly elected minority leader James Orengo who is also the Siaya senator not to take the position.

"It will look bad if he does it, its good if leaders respect each other," she said.

She also said that if ODM had agreed to work with Jubilee he was still in the opposition and would fight for the rights of the people.

On Tuesday morning senators joined hands to send away Mr Wetangula from the position that he had held since 2013.
