Wilfred Mutuku Musau is the new chief executive officer of the National Bank of Kenya (NBK).
The bank’s board approved the appointment of Musau has been interim CEO since April following the sacking of Munir Sheikh Ahmed and other managers.
Musau, who was the bank’s director of retail and premium banking before his appointment, was given an initial five-year term starting October 10.
“The board of directors of NBK is confident with Musau’s leadership credentials and wishes him the very best success as he substantively leads the NBK management team,” said the board chairman Mohamed Abdirahman Hassan in a statement.
“The board wishes to assure NBK shareholders, stakeholders and the general public that the bank’s promise on its strategic ambition is on track,” he added.
Musau will be tasked with returning NBK back to profitability.
