Kiambaa was a hot spot during the 2007/2008 Post Election Violence where more than 36 people were burnt to death in a Kenya Assemblies of God church.

According to Michael Ndung'u the deputy chair of National Council for Integration and Cohesion, the museum is meant to preserve the memories of effects of ethnic animosity and help the residents to maintain peace.

"We want to preserve our memories, good or bad for posterity. Rwanda, Germany, Russia and many other places in the world have preserved their history," said Ndungu who spoke in Eldoret during a conference of Pentecostal churches.

Chairman of Kenya National Pentecostal Churches, Zablon Malema, while speaking at the same venue said that all communities ought to live in peace.

"There should be unity in diversity and we should not allow a repeat of what happened in 2007/2008 again at this age and time," said Malema.
