Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has appointed First Lady Janet Museveni as the new Minister of Education and Sports.
The Cabinet, announced on Monday evening, is comprised of 81 members.
Another surprise in new Uganda Cabinet is Betty Kamya, former challenger to Museveni under FDC and own party, as Minister for Kampala.
She has replaced Frank Tumwebaze. Tumwebaze is now the ICT Minister.
Retired Lt General Henry Tumukunde is the Minister of Security.
Museveni was sworn in for his fifth term as Uganda’s president on May 12, 2016.
During his inauguration in Kampala, representatives from Europe and North America walked out of the ceremony over the attendance of Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir, who is wanted on genocide charges.
African dignitaries who attended the ceremony were; Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe and the president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma.
