Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Wanyama Musiambo has expressed his disappointment following the shooting of Maji Tamu location Chief Mr Samuel Totona with an arrow last week in Lower Solai in Nakuru.
‘It is absolutely wrong to attack a government official on duty when carrying out a raid on illicit brews. We strongly condemn the incident that saw a location chief at Maji Tamu. Residents should not hit back during the raids rather, they should cooperate with those on duty in order to curb the illegal business,’ Musiambo stated.
The regional coordinator warned brewers in the region who have developed the culture of of attacking government officials during their mission to raid illicit brew dens.
Musiambo who spoke in Nakuru on Wednesday, said such habits should stop, and instead they should allow the officers ample time to do their work.
The area chief was attacked alongside his team while en route to conduct the raid in the region before an armed man hiding in a nearby bush attacked them managing to shoot Totona’s leg.
