This will be the first time in Kenya's history for the celebrations to be presided over by the Head of State outside Nairobi.

The move comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced last year that the celebrations would be moved to other regions to allow all Kenyans have a feeling of devolution.

He noted that as a county, everything is in place to ensure the country celebrates the day peacefully and in the most fulfilling manner possible, further urging Kenyans from all parts of the country to turn out in large numbers and commemorate the day.

"As you can see, preparations are in top gear ahead of the Madaraka Day celebrations in two weeks time because hosting high profile visitors including the President himself is at times very tricky," he said, after leading officials from State House in visiting Afraha stadium on Friday.

Musiambo noted that everything was moving as planned, thanks to a good working relationship between the county government and the county assembly who have continued to offer fully support financially.

Madaraka Day is celebrated annually on June 1, to commemorate the day Kenya attained internal self-rule in 1963.
