Businesses in Kisumu are expected to reap big from the upcoming Kenya National Music Festivals.
Some of the sectors expected to benefit include, transport, hotels, food joints and petrol stations.
County Education Director Sylvester Mulambe said they are expecting more than 10,000 visitors among them being dignitaries, teachers and students.
The event will be hosted at Kisumu Boys High School, Kisumu Girls High School, Lions High School and Citam Hall from August 2-14.
He said that Citam will be the main hall hosting the dignitaries for the two-week festival whose theme is ‘Promoting National Values and Ideals’.
Mulambe said the students will be accommodated in 33 villages in Kisumu and Vihiga counties.
Speaking from his office on Friday, Mulambe said participants will be drawn from ECDs, primary schools, secondary, tertiary institutions, colleges and university
Mulambe urged the business community to take advantage of the event since the participants will require food, transport and accommodation services.
“We urge hoteliers to improve on their accommodation services to ensure their guests are comfortable,” he said.
Mulambe said guests will be looking for places to eat and they should not be disappointed as Kisumu has one of the best delicacies, which is fish. He, however, warned motorists and residents of the traffic build up associated with numerous school buses expected.
He said they are working with County Commissioner Erastus Ekidor to ensure everyone is safe.
