A music producer was on Friday arraigned in a Nakuru Law Court to face charges of fraudulently obtaining money from an upcoming musician.
The prosecution desk told the court under the precision of Chief Resident Magistrate Samuel Mungai that on diverse dates of December 2014 at Gamel House building within Nakuru town, the accused James Njoroge 31, pretending to be in a position to record and produce songs for one Elijah Kanyiri and received Sh10,000 in cash from the upcoming musician.
The prosecution desk said that the accused frustrated the complainant as he kept on postponing recording sessions and in most cases failing to be present at ‘his’ Studio.
The prosecution added that the accused alleged that he had a lot of work pending and that the complainant had no option but to be patient till the time he was to get time to record his tracks.
The court was told that the complainant, who hails from Rongai, incurred a lot of costs travelling and calling the accused and differed with his sponsor who alleged he was being swindled of money by the complainant.
Upon investigations by the complainant, he was told that the studio does not belong to the accused and that he was just a mere associate with the owner of the studio.
The accused however denied the charges urging that the recording deal was still on and asked the court to advise the complainant to exercise patience.
He was released on a cash bond of Sh20,000 as he awaits the next hearing of the case in March 19 this year.
