Kitui senator David Musila has launched a scathing attack on Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka after he was trounced by Kitui Governor Julius Malombe in one of the most watched contests at the county level.

Mr Musila who garnered 74,308 votes against Malombe’s 88,328 has insisted that the exercise was not conducted in a free and fair manner.

He claimed that Kalonzo left Malombe’s team conduct the tallying exercise, adding that he would not have won under such a situation.

"The Party Leader order results that were compiled by my opponent to be announced at Kitui tallying centre without reference to the National Election Board officials who fled Kitui town due to insecurity," he said, as quoted by Nation.

The senator, who has been a strong critic of the incumbent, insisted that he won the nominations.

"It is unfortunate that the winner has been declared the loser against all democratic principle," Senator Musila said.

He has, however, asked residents of this part of the nation to remain calm as he rethinks about his next move.

Malombe will not lock horns with Former Lands Minister Charity Kaluki Ngilu during the forthcoming general polls.
