Wiper Party Chairman David Musila has been criticised for disrespecting his Party boss and former vice President Kalonzo Musyoka after the latter asked him to back Kitui Julius Malombe to retain his seat in August.
Kitui County Maendeleo Ya Wanawake group has asked the senator to defend his seat as urged by Kalonzo and not take offense over the matter.
Led by their chairperson, Chairperson Ruth Mulandi and Kitui Professionals coordinator Campell Munyambu, the women faulted Musila for overreacting before the eyes of the public over an issue that could be handled in privacy for the sake of Kalonzo’s presidential bid in the upcoming general polls.
“This was wise and well-meaning counsel,” said the women as quoted by the Star. Speaking to the Star on phone, Mulandi said that the idea of backing Malombe was not born recently but was in line with a MoU ahead of the last general elections.
“There was an agreement that Malombe, who hails from the Kitui sub-region, would be allowed to defend his seat this year.
A person from Mwingi would then be allowed to run for governor in 2022,” she said. On his part, Musila has affirmed that he will go for the seat whether Kalonzo likes it or not.
