Former Kitui Senator David Musila has intensified his vote-hunting mission for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the NASA coalition backyard of Ukambani.
Musila who broke ranks with the NASA presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper where he served as national chairman has emerged as President Kenyatta's point man in the Lower Eastern region which is widely considered an opposition zone.
While warning the former Vice President of a fierce battle for the region's over 1.5 million enlisted voters, Musila vowed to better Uhuru's tally of 115,000 votes he garnered in the August 8 poll.
According to the former Senator, the region has not gained any development in the last five years because of being in opposition and that they can't afford being out of government again.
"The region has gained nothing in the five years it has been in Opposition and can't afford to remain there. It's unfortunate that majority of our leaders are not seeing this," Musila said on Tuesday at his Migwani home.
Ukambani is one of the regions that President Uhuru Kenyatta is keen to lure to springboard his re-election ambitions.
