Kitui Governor hopeful David Musila has picked deputy governor Penina Malonza as his running mate ahead of the August 8 polls.
Musila has settled for Malonza who was dumped by the incumbent governor Julius Malombe early this month.
According to Musila, Malonza has great political experience and managerial skills which are needed to run the county affairs.
The Kitui senator said that Malonza was dumped by Malombe for her hard stand on issues.
“We all know that Malombe feared Malonza’s tough stand on key issues and that is why he dumped her, but I have picked her as my running mate because of her leadership skills,” he said as quoted by The Star.
Musila said that Malombe feared that his alleged ‘evils’ at the county could be exposed and opted to drop Malonzo as her deputy.
The governor aspirant said that he will teach Malombe a 'political lesson' that he will live to remember.
“The Journey has just begun and Malombe should brace himself for a tough political battle on August 8,” he said.
Malombe dropped Malonzo as her deputy and settle for Kyuso KNUT Executive Secretary Agnes Kambua.
Malombe is seeking re-election for a second term on a Wiper ticket after flooring senator Musila in the Wiper party nomination.
He faces stiff competition from Musila and former Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu.
