Former Senator David Musila has launched a scathing attack on outgoing Former Kitui Governor Julius Malombe for skipping the inauguration of former lands minister Charity Kaluki Ngilu on Monday. 

Musila joined other leaders is criticizing the former governor for not attending the event, in which he was expected to hand over power.  

The senator said that Malombe should respect the will of the people. 

“Democracy is about respecting the collective will of the people as demonstrated at the ballot. I conceded defeat and congratulated our new governor and the other candidate should have done the same,” Mr Musila said, as quoted by Nation.

Musila emerged the second after garnering 114, 037 while Ngilu won the seat with 169,442 votes. 

The former governor emerged got 74,428 votes in one of the toughest contests at the county level. 

The incoming governor’s inauguration was attended by several leaders including Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, Nyiva Mwendwa (outgoing women rep) and MPs Makali Mulu (Kitui Central). 

Ngilu has pledged to unite different leaders in the county. She has asked the Members of the County Assembly to serve the people diligently during the next general elections.
