“As a council of Imams, we strongly condemn the recent attacks in Mandera county where lives were lost, a network booster destroyed and contaminating the main source of water for the residents. This heinous act is not based on any Islam teachings but rather on ideologies that are wrong and inhumane. Once again, we are against it,” Abdul said.

The council also called for adherence of Muslim teachings especially among the youth to cushion them against engaging in destructive behaviors that are out of the correct teachings.

“We would like to urge our elders and imams to encourage the youth follow the teachings strictly. Anything outside the teachings of the faith will not be necessary as it may lead to indulgence in some other unacceptable behaviors. We will not allow our mosques to be used by those with bad intentions as hideouts to plan such acts,” he added.

The attacks that took place late last week targeted a police vehicle that was guarding a passenger bus which left scores of policemen dead and others injured after an improvised explosive device went off.
