The Kenya Muslim National Advisory Council has criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta for mistreating Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga ahead of the August polls. The council chair Sheikh Juma Ngao said the recent utterances by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa are not only inciting but also unacceptable in a nation guided by a Constitution.Ngao said that Muslim clerics are not impressed with the actions and words of the Head of the State, urging him to desist from the same. “We do not support threats started by the President and his followers, when he was in Coast, against Governor Joho to the effect that he will discipline him. We condemn that,” he said, as quoted by the Star. Ngao further said Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto have been pitching tents in Mombasa to campaign for Jubilee aspirant Suleiman Shahbal because the outfit does not have strong persons to sell their agenda in the region. “In Coast it is difficult to sell Jubilee Party (JP) candidates because the party lacks strong people to propagate its interests and that is why President Uhuru Kenyatta is the one engaging people like Governor Joho,” said Ngao.Ngao also pointed an accusing finger at the President for making disparaging remark against leaders of the opposition in his rallies citing the case of Kisii where Uhuru suggested Raila is to blame for what transpired following the disputed 2007/2008 elections.“We also condemn the threatening and inciting remarks by the President while in Kisii, insinuating that Raila sparked the 2007/2008 post election violence,” said Ngao. The clerics further asked Marwa to avoid being used by the government to divide this region before the upcoming general polls. “Tell Marwa he has no authority to divide Coast people on the basis of counties,” added Sheikh Ngao.
