This is following a court petition by former Chief Kadhi Sheikh Kassim Hammad probing the legality of current commissioners.

Sheikh Kassim and several other applicants have placed a petition at High Court against Attorney General Githu Muigai over the famous appointments of Wakfu Commissioners.

The clerics faulted Muigai for allegedly failing to consult the Muslim fraternity before effecting the said appointments.

Sheikhs Hammad, Ali Muhammad, Mohiddin Muhammad Mohiddin and Naaman Muhammad Naaman the Basheikh Mosque administrator alleged that Muigai acted beyond his jurisdictions and wrongfully denied relevant stakeholders an opportunity to publicly vet the appointees.

Sheikh Kassim headed to court seeking to bar the commissioners from taking duties.

The attorney general in a gazetted notice dated April 28th made appointments to the new Wakf Commission to serve for three.

Those appointed are Prof Hamadi Iddi Boga (chairman), Juma Ngao, Zubeir Noor Hussein, Nagib Shamsan, Shariff Hussein Ahmed, and Mwanakitini Bakari.

A section of task force members has, however, faulted the move claiming that it was scheme aimed at forestalling its mandate to reform the entire commission.
