As the political temperatures in the country take a toll following the weekly demonstration by Cord to disband IEBC, Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (Supkem) has urged political leaders to come to terms for the sake of peace.

Speaking during a press conference held at the Supkem headquarters on Tuesday, the religious leaders reiterated that violence is not an option in seeking change and has appealed to the political leaders to sit together and settle their differences.

Monday's Cord demonstrations against the electoral body officials left three people dead and several others admitted in hospital with serious injuries. Many businesses were closed down in fear of looting and now the leaders warn that this could dent the economy in a big way.

The Muslim clerics were later invited by IEBC for a meeting to chat on the future of the electoral body and the nation.
