The Kenya National Muslim Advisory Council (KEMNAC) has urged National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, not to take oath as the people’s president.KEMNAC National Chairman Sheikh Juma Ngao said Raila risks destroying his good legacy if he swears himself in as the people’s president.Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday in Mombasa, Sheikh Ngao urged Raila not to go ahead with his planned inauguration in a bid to save the country from political violence.Terming the swearing-in plan as illegal, Sheikh Ngao said the NASA leader risks losing the respect he commands both locally and internationally if he takes the oath. The Sheikh said Raila further risks destroying his political legacy in the country, adding that Kenyans respect him for his immense contribution in the country’s political reforms. He said swearing in Raila on January 30 might cause more chaos, distraction and instability in the country.“The planned oath will tarnish Raila’s image and plunge the country into chaos. The swearing of Raila is illegitimate and inconsequential as he will not be recognised by any country and the international community at large,” said Ngao.“Kenya has one President and that is Uhuru Kenyatta who was publicly sworn-in on November 28 last year by the Chief Justice of the country,” he added.
