On Thursday, SUPKEM held a conference with members of the Nakuru Stakeholders Forum where corruption in security agencies emerged as contributing factor towards terrorism.

SUPKEM Deputy Secretary General Hassan Ole Naado who attended the forum said that both security agencies and citizens have not internalised the concept of community policing and its positive impact.

He said, “This consultative forum aims at establishing linkages between national and grassroots organisations in countering terrorism. We will be informing them on the challenges posed by extremist group and reaching out to state and non-state actors which will help everyone put their minds together so as to realise peace and development.”

Naado observed that while political instability in Somalia poses security threats to Kenya, Kenyans must be alive to the fact that challenges of insecurity and radicalisation of young people will continue.

This comes as media reports indicate the possible disintegration of the jihadist Al Shabaab group in Somalia following a fallout in its top echelons.
