Muslim Education Council has lauded the re-introduction of school ranking system stating that the move will encourage and sustain positive competition in schools across the country.
According to Munawar Khan, the Council's Director, the passing of the bill is a step in the right direction in regards to boosting performance.
“Schools ranking is very important. It will heighten competition and also aid the ministry to monitor the performance of various schools across the regions," Khan said.
Khan who was speaking to the press on Friday noted that poor performance among students had been recorded since ranking was banned in 2014.
He asserted that competition enables learners to gauge their strengths and weaknesses for better performance.
Last week, members of parliament approved the KNEC Amendment Bill that allowed the re-introduction of school ranking. The bill was sponsored by Kiminimi MP Chris Wamalwa.
