The Muslim community in Nakuru has pledged its support to the government in the war on terror following the recent spate of attacks in the country.
While addressing journalists outside Jamia Mosque soon after the afternoon prayers, the Imam community leader, Ahmad Rashid urged Muslims in the country to support the government in the fight against Al Shabaab and terrorism in general.
“I urge Muslims to offer support and intelligence reports to security agencies in order to end the senseless killings currently being witnessed in the country,” Rashid said.
He urged Kenyans from all walks of faith to remain united and not be divided along religious lines.
“Muslims and Christians should not rise against each other as this will be a win for extremists who are carrying out these heinous attacks on innocent Kenyans,” he said.
The Muslim leader at the same time warned those circulating messages in social media about an impending terror attack in Nakuru town to stop as this was creating unnecessary fear and panic among area residents
Rashid urged the people to ignore such messages and alert authorities of any suspicious persons in their midst within their respective areas.
