A section of Muslim leaders under their Supkem umbrella have distanced themselves from the recent remarks issued by their organisation's deputy secretary general Hassan Naado over the county's current political dynasties.
According to the council's chairperson Prof Abdulgafur El-Busaidy, the Supkem council has no political outfit and so matters revolving on politics shall be left on the electorate, who have the constitutional mandate to hire and fire their leaders at the various elective positions.
"Naado has no mandate to speak on behalf of the Supkem council. The recent remarks issued by him should be taken as personal since the council has no preferred candidate in any elective position or even any political party," remarked El-Busaidy.
The Supkem chair issued the sentiments following a publication that appeared on a local daily where Naado is in record issuing a statement touching on Kenyatta and Odinga families.
"If he issued the statements as an individual, then Supkem has no problem. However, he remains without mandate to issue official statements on behalf if the council," added the Supkem chair.
