Muslim leaders in Uasin Gishu County have condemned the Mandera attacks while applauding President Uhuru Kenyatta for the changes made in the security docket.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday morning in Eldoret town, the leaders led by Abubakar Bin asked Christians and Muslims to unite and face the common enemy that is hell-bent on creating divisions between the two religions.
"What we are going through is a national crisis and we must come together as one and tackle the problem without religious discriminations," said Bin adding that they were happy with the President for having assured Kenyans that it was not a religious war.
The leaders absolved Islam from acts of terrorism saying those who preach the vice are mistaken.
"Islam is against terrorism. We welcome the nominated Cabinet Secretary for Interior and have much confidence in him," he said.
They also asked the opposition to tone down their rhetoric on National Security.
"The President did well in picking an opposition politician and it is time they also gave solutions to the pending problems in the country," Bin said.
