Muslim leaders have called on the entire Muslim Community to support the government in the fight against terrorism, especially during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
Led by former Nakuru Mayor Mohammed Surraw, the leaders noted that the Muslim community has had a cordial working relationship with Security Agencies as well as Christians, thus the prevailing peace and security in the county.
“Criminals might take advantage of the festivities to disrupt Peace, I therefore plead with my community to volunteer any information that could help prevent terror acts,” said Surraw.
He added that Islam is based on Love, Peace and respect for Humanity, and therefore those executing terror attacks in the country were out to cause animosity between Muslim and Christians.
Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, who joined the Muslim Community for a wedding over the weekend, said that enough Security arrangements have been put in place to ensure that Kenyans celebrate uninterrupted.
Kinuthia added that specialised security Officers will be deployed in various townships in Nakuru, and that both the County and the National Governments will partner in ensuring Security for all.
