[Photo/Maxwell Ngala]The Kenya Muslim Youth Alliance (KMYA) has condemned the ongoing anti- IEBC demonstrations in the country saying they are causing unnecessary tension.KIMYA Coast Regional Coordinator Khamis Juma Mwaguzo said the demos have forced many residents, especially in Mombasa County to remain indoors on Mondays and Fridays, something which he says should not be happening.Speaking at Likoni in Mombasa on Monday during a youth peace forum, Mwaguzo asked the youth to ignore the demonstrations and instead concentrate on ways of earning a living.“I do not think youth should have time to participate in such demos. Both President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga can solve their stalemate on their own," said Mwaguzo.Mwaguzo said though the demonstrators claim to be fighting for their rights and democratic space, they deny other people their rights by causing unnecessary tension.“If I cannot carry on with my business just because people are demonstrating then you are depriving me of my rights, let us refrain from engaging in the protests,” he added.Mwaguzo appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to solve the stalemate and save the country from plunging into anarchy. He said the current political situation is not good for the country’s unity and the two leaders will be responsible for any leadership crisis that might be witnessed in the country.Three people were on Monday arrested in Mombasa for taking part in the demonstrations. This comes after acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i banned the anti-IEBC demos in Kisumu, Mombasa and Nairobi CBDs.Opposition leaders have however vowed to defy Matiang'i's order, arguing that taking part in demos is a right enshrined in the constitution.
