Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Tuesday, Salat said that the country needs prayers for peaceful polls.

He stated that the August 8 polls must be peaceful for the country to remain stable and achieve its development agenda.

The Garissa SUPKEM official also urged Muslims to pray for the needy, hunger and famine that has hit some parts of the country, high inflation and security.

He observed that many Kenyan families are struggling to feed as a result of the high cost of living that has seen prices for basic commodities skyrocket.

At the same time, Salat urged the government to beef up security during Ramadhan.

“The government has to assure us of our security and other Kenyans as we start the holy month of Ramadhan,” he said as quoted by the Standard.

He urged Kenyans to stand with Muslims and pray for peace, love and unity. Muslims across the world will be marking their holy month of Ramadhan starting Friday.

On Monday, North Eastern Regional coordinator Mohamed Saleh assured Muslims of their safety saying that security surveillance will be heightened during the Ramadhan.
