Muslims believers have been urged to uphold the virtues and gains recorded during the month of Ramadhan for their own gain and for the pleasure of Allah.
Addressing Muslim faithful in his Friday pre – Khutbah sermon at Jamia Mosque, Abdullatif Essajee of the University of Nairobi encouraged Muslims to adhere to their Islamic values and to cease from deviating away from the rightful Islamic norms.
"The steadfastness of Ramadhan is the greatest indicator that one has fully gained benefits from the month of Ramadhan fast. The deeds of a Muslim never come to a dead end with the completion of Ramadhan. Rather, they usually continue and extend all through the year," he said.
Abdullatif further noted that among the main purposes of Ramadhan is to re-ignite the spirit of righteousness among Muslim believers so that they get to win Allah’s favour.
“Fasting is meant to elevate a person from material life to a spiritual life. It helps one to approach to a spiritual level where one can show selflessness and humility," he said.
