Addressing mourners in Mua in Machakos county Saturday, led by Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau, the leaders advised the former Vice President to seek new alignments and strengthen his 2022 presidential bid.

This comes amid an ongoing row within opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA), following the bloc supremo Raila Odinga's move to reconcile with his sworn rival President Uhuru Kenyatta, a move a section of Musyoka's allies have termed as betrayal, urging him to reconsider his political posture.

"The field is open and you have to make political friendships with like-minded politicians as you prepare for 2022. Reach out to all political players including Gideon Moi and William Ruto in pursuit of their support," said Makau.

Musyoka, who also attended the ceremony, however, expressed partial support of the Odinga-Kenyatta pact where the two pledged to jointly address the issue of national political division.

Despite his party's disapproval of the agreement,  Kalonzo noted that it will, to some extent, lead to the realization of his desire for a national dialogue.

"I have for some time now been pushing for a national dialogue where we can address our political shortcomings and I can now see that the dream is nearing realization," he said.

Odinga and Kenyatta arrived at the decision after a closed-door meeting at the President's offices in Harambee House in Nairobi Friday.

The move has since received a clean bill of health from a section of leaders with others rubbishing it as a scheme to satisfy individual interests.
