A Kitui Member of the county assembly (MCA) Nelson Musyoka has been arrested over a fake degree.

According to the Star, the lawmaker was arrested by sleuths from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over forgery. The legislator was taken to court where he was charged with seven different counts of forging documents.

The prosecution team told the court that the politician had used the fake document to obtain a job at the County government as a chief officer. He used the avenue to campaign before he was elected an MCA for Voo ward.

Through his lawyer Alphonse Kilonzo, the lawmaker pleaded not guilty to the offenses leveled against him.  He also asked the court to grant him bail arguing that he is ready to comply with the orders of the court. “He will comply with the court orders,” he said, as quoted by the local daily.  The case will be heard on November 20.
