Speaking at his office on Friday, Kitheka said that unity of leaders will be important if the party wants to gain recognition in national politics.

He said that time for party wrangles is over, and that they should start strategizing on how to take up national leadership.

“Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka should focus on unity the party members as we prepare and plan for the 2017 general polls,” he said.

Kitheka intimated that politics of selfness should be discouraged, adding that leaders should focus on the interests of the people.

Meanwhile, the MCA wants the county government to fast-track projects that will uplift the living standards of the people.

He observed locals still face major challenges among them lack of water, poor road networks and failure to access proper medical-care.

“Governor Mutua should work towards improving the living standards of Machakos people,” he said.

The MCA said the county is among those that get large funding from the national government and the funds should be channeled to development.
