Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has criticised the government's decision to use a lie detector in fighting corruption.
According to Ngunyi, the process will not lead to nabbing of culprits implicated in graft.
In a Twitter statement, Ngunyi argued corruption was like a virus which keeps appearing and disappearing and which can't be dealt with using a lie detector.
"Corruption does not fight back. Corruption corrupts back. Corruption is not a monster. It is a virus. Now you see it; now you don't. And a lie detector cannot arrest a virus," he said.
During the Madaraka Day celebrations, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced all procurement officials and accountants would have to undergo a polygraph test.
“All heads of procurement and accounts in government ministries, departments, agencies and parastatals will undergo fresh vetting including polygraph testing to determine their integrity and suitability,” he said.
