Famous political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has said Opposition leader Raila Odinga is falling for Jubilee’s trap ahead of 2017 election.
Ngunyi in a hypothesis, said the current push to amend electoral law was a set up for Raila by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The analyst says the 2017 poll is similar to that witnessed in 2007 where a ‘hardcore and reckless’ Opposition faces an ‘indifferent’ government and the ‘results cannot be good’.
Ngunyi, famous for his tyranny of numbers phrase, said Uhuru knew Raila’s response to an amendment of the electoral law.
“Uhuru knows Raila’s reaction to this law will be violent mass action. He wants Raila to act violent and depict him as a war monger. Uhuru also want to isolate Raila and precipitate an anti-Raila Nasa, is Raila seeing this trap? Ngunyi said.
The analyst also observed that Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is the man to watch in this election.
Just like in 2007, where former President Mwai Kibaki would have won clearly if Kalonzo joined him, Ngunyi said President Uhuru Kenyatta should change the constitution and create the position of Prime Minister to dish to Kalonzo.
“With that, Uhuru will win clearly by midday. Kalonzo holds the key to a peaceful election in 2017,” he said.
