The Malindi MP on Tuesday refuted claims that Jubilee has paid him to ditch the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

In a statement to news rooms, the MP accused some politicians in the area of spreading the rumours.

He said that he is in ODM and has no plans of moving to Jubilee or any other party.

“It has come to my attention that some politicians are spreading rumours that I have been bought to join Jubilee,” he said as quoted by a local daily on Tuesday.

The Malindi lawmaker directly accused Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa of spreading the propaganda, saying she has been spreading lies that he has been given Sh150 Million to ditch ODM.

The MP assured supporters of his commitment to ODM.

Jumwa has declared to vie for the Malindi Parliamentary seat in 2017 and her allegations against the current MP are likely to stir up debate.

There have been claims that Jubilee is buying ODM members to weaken the Raila Odinga led Orange party ahead of 2017 elections claims the Jubilee wing has vehemently denied.

Former ODM secretary General Ababu Namwamba resigned two weeks ago with claims that he was bribed to quit the Orange party.

The Orange party continues to experience problems with more members threatening to quit.

Party leader Raila Odinga is currently on five day tour of Western Kenya to consolidate support after falling out with Budalangi MP Ababu Namwmaba.
