Led by Machakos Central Member of County Assembly (MCA) Cornelius Kitheka, the members said that Muthama is the leader the party deserves to have.

Mr Kitheka noted that the Machakos Senator has leadership skills and that he can use to instil discipline in the party.

“We are rallying behind Machakos Senator for the chairmanship of the Wiper party,” said Kitheka.

The MCA said that time has come for the party to embrace change adding that the old leaders have failed in their mandate.

Kitheka accused current top leaders of the party of failing to unify the members stating that their divergent issues and ideologies have led to wrangles.

He noted that Wiper must stand firm to remain relevant in the ever changing political environment in the region and across the country.

Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala welcomed the idea to have Muthama vie for the party’s chairmanship.

He said that they are ready to vote for people who will take the party to the next level of politics.

At the same time, the Machakos central MCA urged leaders in the county to unite saying that it’s the only way they will have a share of the country’s top leadership.

He said that Machakos people have been used and dumped for a long time and that this time they must have one of them elected to the presidency.
