Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has asked law enforcers in the county to beef up security and address rising instances of crime being reported.
Muthama claims that police are not doing enough to address security issues.
On Thursday the senator said that the killing of five guards by criminals at Mitaboni market in Kathiani shows that law enforcers are sleeping on their jobs.
The senator claimed that crime is escalating in the county at the watch of the police.
While condemning the killing of the five guards, Muthama asked the police to probe the matter and ensure culprits involved are arrested.
“We cannot tolerate acts of criminals and law enforcement agencies must work extra hard to contain rising crime in Machakos,” said the senator on phone.
Five guards were on Thursday early morning murdered by criminals after a foiled robbery the Mitaboni trading center in Machakos.
Four other guards are said to have survived the attack and are nursing injuries in hospital.
According to Kathiani Sub County Deputy Commissioner Margret Mbugua, investigations into the killings have been launched.
The Deputy Commissioner said that detectives are on the ground searching for the killers even as locals vow to continue with demonstrations until when the killers will be arrested.
