Former Machakos senator Johnston Muthama has faulted Siaya senator James Orengo for accepting to take the position of Senate Minority leader previously held by Ford Kenya's Party leader Moses Wetangula.

Muthama said Orengo ought to had declined the position and allowed Wetangula to continue serving as the Senate Minority Leader.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Tuesday night , the former Wiper senator said the manner in which Wetangula was ousted was not right, adding that Orengo should not have agreed to take the position.

“My brother Orengo should not have accepted he senate minority leadership position for the sake of NASA unity,” Muthama said.

Muthama claimed the NASA summit had unanimously agreed to have Wetangula as the senate minority leader adding that what happened letter remains a mystery.

The former senator said NASAs’ unity hangs on the balance following Wetangula’s ouster.

“We cannot pretend that all is well when every indications show otherwise,” he added. 

Muthama, however,  said he is working to bring the NASA principals together.  

He noted that the quest for electoral reforms and justice will end prematurely if the NASA principals part ways.

The Ford Kenya Party leader was ousted as senate minority leader two weeks ago and his position taken over by Orengo.

Wetangula has since vowed to teach ODM leader Raila Odinga a bitter political lesson for allegedly orchestrating his removal.

He  has also warned Raila telling that he should forget about the Luhya support in future.
