Speaking at Stony Athi Resort in Machakos County, Muthama said Kalonzo should be accorded the respect he deserves.

The outspoken politician condemned the sharp criticism directed at Kalonzo for skipping Raila’s swearing-in, adding that he is an equal partner in NASA who deserves to be respected just like his co-principals.

“If Kalonzo had taken the oath alone, he would have still been criticised. We are on course and if need be, Kalonzo will be sworn in at an appropriate time," said Muthama.

"Those abusing the Wiper leader should understand Kalonzo was called many names during the 2007 election but he still became vice president,” he added, as quoted by the Standard.

Muthama further hit out at opposition leaders for being hostile towards Kalonzo, noting that NASA should come clean about the oath ceremony.

He said the NASA principals should issue a joint statement to explain why Kalonzo, Moses Wetangula, and Musalia Mudavadi failed to attend the swearing-in ceremony which was held at Uhuru Park on January 30.

"We as leaders are demanding that NASA principals come out and tell Kenyans what happened during the swearing-in," said Muthama.
