Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has said the meeting held by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ukambani MPs on Thursday at State House Nairobi was not political.
Mr Muthama said discussions at the meeting were purely developmental.
The meeting discussed the need to tarmac the Kibwezi-Kitui-Mwingi road as well as the President's scheduled visit to Ukambani Mr Muthama told a local daily in a telephone interview.
"Those MPs met the President to discuss how to tarmac the Kibwezi-Kitui-Mwingi road after we threatened to hold a major protest, nothing political," he said.
In attendance were MPs affiliated to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka led by Kitui Senator and Wiper chairman David Musila and National Assembly Minority leader, Francis Nyenze.
The morning meeting was also attended by Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia.
The meeting is seen as Jubilee's attempts to butter up the leaders to support the ruling coalition ahead of 2017 general elections.
