Saying that the recent killings in Nadome, Turkana are a clear indication of the government’s failure to contain insecurity, Muthama said the government lacks proper coordination when it comes to security matters.

Addressing the public at Machakos Town on Saturday, he further accused top security agencies of sleeping on the job while innocent lives of Kenyans are being claimed by cattle rustlers and criminals.

“It is very sad that criminals can descent on innocent lives and massacre them at the watch of the government,” he said.

Muthama said that for security to be realised, the government must change its tactics.

He said that it will be no longer business as usual adding that some people must take responsibility on the killings witnessed in Turkana and other places.

Muthama indicated that the government has the responsibility to provide security to all citizens without discrimination.

He wondered why the government failed to responds immediately and pursue attackers believed that butchered at least 60 people in Nadome village, Turkana county.

The senator further took issue with the rhetoric statements by the Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery that the government will take action on killers.

The senator said that Kenyans are tired with the phrase ‘the government will take action’ saying that it is time the government got realistic and deal with insecurity.

Muthama said that the opposition will continue to pressure the government on security and other sensitive issues facing the country.
