Ms. Agnes Kavindu Muthama, who unsuccessfully contested for the Woman Rep seat on the Jubilee ticket has called upon residents of Machakos to turn up in large numbers to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto retain their posts.  Muthama, one of the staunch supporters of the Jubilee regime, said that the region has a lot to reap from Uhuru’s re-election.

The politician, who is Former Senator Johnstone Muthama’s allegedly estranged wife, challenged women to remain steadfast as we head to the rerun.

"Let us have a stand. Those women who are neither here nor there are not showing good example," said Ms Muthama, as quoted by Nation.

Her remarks were reiterated by Governor Alfred Mutua, who defended his seat on Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement. Speaking on a different occasion, Mutua said that the county government will ensure that there is enhanced security to enable residents take part in the rerun.

"Those who want to vote will have their rights protected. Those who don't want to vote should stay at home," Governor Mutua said.

The opposition leader has since insisted that he will not participate in the exercise after The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) failed to heed to his irreducible demands.
