Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama has sensationally claimed that the Wiper Democratic Movement leadership convinced former Deputy Speaker to contest Garissa Township parliamentary seat on a Wiper ticket.
Maalim, who also served as Lagdera MP for many years, till his defection, was serving as ODM Disciplinary committee chairperson.
And Muthama says Maalim’s entry to Garissa Township race has caused panic to National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, who he insists will lose in August 8 polls.
“This noise maker (Duale) has panicked because he knows he won’t make it back to parliament. He thought he was clever enough but we fronted a rock (Maalim) who will beat him squarely,” said Muthama on Sunday.
He added: “We planned it well and I am happy that this is one of the seats we are sure of beating Jubilee early as a strong warning that they will fail in everything.”
Duale has come under fierce criticism from a section of Kamba leaders, who have demanded for his arrest to explain an audio in which a voice similar to his is heard calling for eviction of Kamba community from Garissa.
