A police officer on Thursday accused Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama of inciting residents.
While testifying in a court, Gabriel Muchai said that Muthama urged the residents to stone the striking teachers who had defied a call to continue prolonging their strike in 2015.
He was testifying in the hate speech case against the senator. He added that Muthama was addressing a rally convened to support striking teachers in the country.
Mr Muchai added that the words by Muthama uttered on September 23 were aimed at causing harm to the public.
He (Muchai) was by then attached to the Langata police station. He told Magistrate Francis Andayi that he had been deployed at Uhuru Park on the same day to maintain law and order.
The hearing continues today Friday.
