Wiper Party nominee for the Machakos senatorial seat Jackson Kala has accused the incumbent senator Johnstone Muthama of selfishness and greed.
Speaking on Wednesday shortly after his nomination, Kala accused senator Muthama of blackmailing Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to find his way to the top of the party.
“Wiper, as a movement, cannot be held at ransom by an individual. The party is bigger than each member. N no one should expect its leaders to wait for them," he said.
“Who is Muthama to tell Kalonzo to prepare for a bruising battle? That is blackmail and by all means. Party members should have respect for their bosses," he added.
Until his nomination, Kala was former Education chief officer in the Machakos County government.
Muthama announced his defection from Wiper Party earlier this week.
The Senator further revealed that he was not going to defend his seat during the forthcoming general elections.
