Machakos County  governor aspirant Lemi Muia has lauded Senator Johnstone Muthama for ditching Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya (WDM-K)

Speaking to the media on Tuesday at Athi River, the Jubilee nominee claimed there is no democracy in the former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka-led party.

“I want to laud Senator Muthama for quiting Wiper party which has no democracy and is full of hero-worshipping. He should not be shaken for exercising his constitutional right to join or leave a party,”  Muia said.

The aspirant accused Wiper leader Kalonzo of poor management of the party which has forced key members out of the party.

He urged the Kamba community to vote wisely and elect leaders of their choice regardless of the party.

“People should vote for leaders of their choice in the forthcoming August 8 general elections without considering the political parties they are affiliated to. Let us all make wise decisions,”  Muia added.

Muthama, on Monday, announced his decision to quit the Machakos Senate race citing dictatorship by Kalonzo in the party nominations.

“A culture of killing democracy has emerged in our party and repression has been promoted. The party leader has been imposing candidates and ensuring that by hook or crook, these people become Wiper candidates,” Muthama told reporters at his Maanzoni ranch in Machakos County.
