Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria are currently being held at the Pangani Police Station over hate speech.

The two were arrested on Monday afternoon over hate mongering and incitement remarks.

Kuria was picked up by detectives and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters where he was briefly questioned before he was taken to the Pangani Police station.

Muthama was picked up by police from Kangundo and driven to the DCI headquarters and later to Pangani Police Station where Kuria had been taken.

Nasa leaders Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula, Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, James Orengo and Hassan Joho flocked the police station demanding release of the two leaders.

Raila, while addressing the press, claimed the arrests were meant to intimidate leaders allied to Nasa.

“Uhuru Kenyatta has given instructions. But I would like Uhuru Kenyatta to play by the rules. You are a presidential candidate, I’m a presidential candidate, let us face the people. Do not intimidate my supporters to cripple my campaign,” Raila said.
