Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi has accused Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and governor Alfred Mutua of creating division in Ukambani.

Speaking in Yatta on Wednesday, the lawmaker cited the duo's action and utterances in the recent past, warning that they could spark a political division in the community, accusing the two of championing for their own interests.

“It is now very clear who the real betrayers of the community are. We are telling both Muthama and Mutua that it will not be business as usual anymore because they have demonstrated that they are only motivated in their own selfish interests,” he said.

Mwangangi further accused senator Muthama of being an impediment to the unity of the community.

“As a community we need to chart the way forward with or without Muthama because he had been the real obstacle to the unity of the Kamba nation," he said.

"As leaders we shall ask voters to reject him because he has outlived his political usefulness in Ukambani,” he added.

Muthama broke ranks with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing the former Vice President of being undemocratic in the leadership of the party.

He has since quit the Machakos senatorial race.
