Machakos senator Johnson Muthama has rubbished claims linking Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to President Uhuru Kenyatta led Jubilee Party.
Muthama says that Kalonzo has no plans of ditching Cord in favour of Jubilee.
According to the Machakos senator, Kalonzo is in Cord to stay whether he is endorsed as the coalition 2017 flag bearer or not.
“Claims going round that Kalonzo is on the verge of crossing over to Jubilee party are not true,” he said on Monday.
The Machakos senator stated that Cord leaders are working on a strategy that will see one of the principals endorsed as flag bearer.
He said that both coalition leaders have equal chances of being endorsed.
“We are the insiders and we know what is taking place and I can assure you that Kalonzo will not ditch Cord,” he added during an interview with journalists at the Senate buildings in Nairobi on Monday.
There have been claims that Kalonzo might ditch Raila and join Uhuru.
Kalonzo during his tour of the Coast region last week said that he has made many sacrifices and that this time round, other people must sacrifice for him.
The Wiper leader also said that he is ready to work with anyone so long us he is guaranteed to be in government come next year.
The unity of Cord principals is being questioned as the affiliate parties continue to conduct separate rallies.
Both Cord principals, Raila, Kalonzo and Moses Wetangula have declared interest to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017.
