Muthama said it is not a bad idea to have the constitution reviewed and faulty areas rectified.

Addressing the press at Milimani Law Courts where he had appeared for the hearing of a hate speech case against him on Monday, Muthama said the constitutional review is normal.

Muthama said there is no law which is perfect hence room should always be created for review.

“I don’t know why call for the constitutional amendment is creating jitters among some politicians, we should sit down together and look on the areas that need to be rectified for the sake our country,” Muthama said.

The former senator, however, said much focus should be on electoral reforms.

Muthama said the country’s electoral system is wanting asserting that the country will continue to experience electoral disputes and injustices unless it is reformed.

The former senator asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga to take the lead in electoral push.

Muthama said a section of Kenyan’s is yet to heal after the last year’s divisive general election.

Calls for constitutional amendment continues to intensify with a section politicians across the political divide advocating for it.

On Saturday, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka became the top latest politician to support the amendment push.

However, a section of politicians led by Deputy President William Ruto is opposing the calls.

The DP argues that the 2010 constitution is okay and there is no need for the amendment to create political positions for election losers.
