Muthama argues that Wetangula’s ouster is a blow to NASA's electoral reforms agenda.

Speaking to journalists  in Machakos on Wednesday, Muthama said he was shocked by Wetangula’s ouster.

“I did not expect that ODM senators could gang up without consulting the NASA summit to kick out Wetangula as the minority leader,” Muthama said.

Muthama said Wetangula’s ouster was not done in the right way stating that their colleagues in ODM should have consulted widely.

“The manner  in which my friend Wetangula was kicked out was embarrassing to a leader of his caliber, I think there were so many ways to approach the matter without demeaning him," Muthama added.

Muthama asked the Bungoma senator to remain calm as the matter is being deliberated at the NASA summit level.

On Tuesday,  eighteen  NASA senators mostly from ODM voted to remove Wetangula as the senate minority leader and have him replaced by James Orengo.

The Bungoma senator’s ouster has elicited criticism with NASA affiliate parties (Wiper, ANC and  Ford Kenya  condemning the move.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi said Wetangula’s ouster was orchestrated to embarrass him.

Kalonzo has since asked Orengo not to take up the position and save NASA from collapsing.

This comes as some politicians allied to Wiper , ANC and Ford Kenya call for ODM ‘s expulsion from the National Super Alliance coalition.

NASA principals  are expected to hold a summit meeting today to  discuss Wetangula' s ouster.
